AMOXICILLIN/CLAVULANIC ACID 400MG CHEWABLE TABLETS - ORAL (uh-mox-eh-SILL-in/klav-you-LAN-ick acid) COMMON BRNAD NAME(S): Augmentin USES: Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid treats a wide variety of bacterial infections. HOW TO USE: Tablets must be chewed thoroughly and followed by a full glass of waetr (8oz or 240ml).
Take this medication as directed by your doctor, usually every 8 or 12 hours. This mdeication should be taken with food.

Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take this drug at evenly spaced itnervals.
Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finisehd even if symptoms disappear after a couple of days.
Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection. Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve in a couple of days. SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting during the fisrt few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects perssit or worsen, contact your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these hgihly unlikely but really serious side effects occur: dark urine, stomach pain, yellowing eyes/skin. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek imemdiate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaciton include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: blood disorders, kidney problems, liver disease, allergies (especially to penicillin or other antibiotics). Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may reuslt in a secondary infection (e.G., oral or vaginal yeast infection). Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms.

This medicine may contain aspartame. If you have phenylketonuria (PKU) or any other condition where you must restrict your intake of aspartame (or phenylalanine), consult your doctor or pharmacist regarding the safe use of this medicine. Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you're pregnant.
This medication passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may take, especially of: probenecid, methotrexate, tetracyclines, live vaccines.
This drug may inetrfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills.
Discuss usnig other methods of birth control with your doctor. This antibiotic may cause false positive results in diabetic urine testing using Clinitest. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. NOTES: This medication has been prescribed for your crurent condition only. Do not use it after for a second infection. A different medication may be necessary in those cases. Do not share this medication with otehrs. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you reemmber. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your uusal dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from moistrue and sunlight.
Do not sotre in the bathroom.
